After we gain general knowledge about poverty in the articles we read in the ENGH 121-122 classes, we get curious to extend our knowledge about poverty by doing further research that answers a specific question that could be the key to solve poverty. One of the important factors that could reduce poverty is education. We already knew that education is a fundamental aspect in rising nation and strengthen country’s economy; therefore we start asking broad question about how we could improve education? During our investigation in research method class, we found that education can be improved through many ways. One important way to improve education is by adding arts education in schools’ curriculum and not to eliminate it in case of school’s limited budget. We narrowed our question to look specifically in why shouldn’t Art education be cut from the curriculum in underfunded schools? Recently, many studies in education show that the presence of arts programs positively influence student’s academic achievement and proficiency. These studies indicate that Arts Education is associated with students’ cognitive, physiological, social and emotional development, as result their academic performances will be achieved and it increases their chances to have higher education, job opportunities and better life.
